The city of Menifee, California is a relatively new municipality in Riverside County. Menifee incorporated in 2008 and has grown rapidly into a city of over 90,000 residents today.

The area was originally inhabited by the indigenous Luiseño people for centuries before European settlement. In the late 19th century, farmers and ranchers moved into the Menifee Valley for its fertile soil and mild climate. Several small communities formed including Menifee, Sun City, Quail Valley and Canyon Lake.

Growth and Development

Menifee saw major suburban development in the 1980s and 1990s. Master-planned housing communities were built to accommodate population growth in Southern California. Today, Menifee has expanded into a bedroom community with neighborhoods, shopping, parks and new schools to serve families.

Major highways like I-215 run through Menifee, connecting it to the job centers of San Diego, Orange County and Los Angeles. Menifee continues to grow as new homes and amenities make it an appealing option for commuters.
