Fairport is a city located in the county of Monroe in the U.S. state of New York. Its population at the 2010 census was 5,353 and a population density of 3,346 people per km². After 10 years in 2020 city had an estimated population of 5,278 inhabitants.
The city was created 157 years ago in 1866.
Fairport is a village located in the Town of Perinton, which is part of Monroe County, New York, United States. Fairport is a suburb 9 miles east of Rochester. It is also known as the "Crown Jewel of the Erie Canal". In 2005, it was named as one of the "Best Places to Live" by Money Magazine.
Fairport has two historic districts listed on the National Register of Historic Places: Fairport Village Historic District and Fairport Historic District (also known as Fairport Commercial Historic District). Many of Fairport's buildings were constructed between 1820 and 1930. The village also has a large number of properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
As of 2010, there were 5,336 people residing in the village. The population density was 537.6 people per square mile (207/km²). There were 2,543 housing units at an average density of 256/sq mi (99/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 96% White (non-Hispanic), 1% African American or Black, 0% Native American or Alaska Native, 1% Asian, less than 0% Pacific Islander, less than 1% from other races, and 2% from two or more.
