Owasso is a city located in the county of Tulsa in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. Its population at the 2010 census was 28,915 and a population density of 673 people per km². After 10 years in 2020 city had an estimated population of 37,241 inhabitants.
The city was created 120 years ago in 1903.
Owasso is a city in Rogers and Tulsa Counties in the U.S. state of Oklahoma, and a northern suburb of Tulsa. The population was 38,240 persons at the 2020 census, compared to 28,915 at the 2010 census, a gain of 32.24 percent.
The community was named after Chief Wasso (also spelled "Washo"), a Muscogee-speaking Creek chief who signed the Treaty of Fort Gibson in 1833. The town incorporated in 1947 and today is home to more than 36,000 residents.
Owasso's economy is dominated by manufacturing and retail trade industries. Its largest employers include Koch Industries subsidiary Invista North America; Invista Distribution Center; GE Transportation; Altisource Portfolio Solutions; The Andersons Distribution Center; and Honeywell Aerospace Systems & Services facility.
The city is also home to Tulsa Air Center (formerly Tulsa International Airport) which serves as an international airport for general aviation aircraft traveling within the United States or abroad
It has been named one of Money Magazine's Best Places to Live, and Newsweek named Owasso one of America's 100 Best Places to Live.
