Maplewood is a city in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 38,018 at the 2010 census. Maplewood is ten minutes' drive from downtown Saint Paul. It stretches along the northern and eastern borders of Saint Paul.
Maplewood is located in east-central Ramsey County; its eastern border is defined by Interstate Highway 35E (I-35E) at the point where it enters Saint Paul from Minneapolis and continues southward through the city. The western border is defined by Minnesota State Highway 280 (MN 280), which heads north toward Downtown Saint Paul and then becomes I-35E again at its intersection with MN 55 (Grand Avenue). The southern border follows Grand Avenue to its intersection with Snelling Avenue; Snelling defines Maplewood's southern boundary to its east at Minnehaha Parkway.
The northeastern part of Maplewood is known as Midvale, while the northwestern section of the city is known as Gladstone. Both neighborhoods were developed during the 1920s by real estate developer J.C. Nichols; they are among many suburbs built on a grid plan around St. Paul during this period.
The city was incorporated in 1957 and has been growing steadily ever since. In addition to being home to a number of beautiful parks and open spaces, it boasts several historical sites as well as plenty of local businesses that are sure to meet your needs!
