After 10 years in 2020 county had an estimated population of 52,869 inhabitants. Its county seat is Kerrville. The county was created 168 years ago in 1855.
Kerr County is located in the Texas Hill Country, about 65 miles northwest of San Antonio. It was established in 1856 and named for James Kerr, an early pioneer and Mexican-American War veteran.
The city of Kerrville has been the county seat since the county's inception. Kerrville was founded in the 1850s along the Guadalupe River and named for James Kerr.
