Kent is a city located in the county of Portage in the U.S. state of Ohio. Its population at the 2010 census was 28,904 and a population density of 1,202 people per km². After 10 years in 2020 city had an estimated population of 29,319 inhabitants.

Kent is located in Portage County, Ohio and it's the largest city within the county. The city is located along the Cuyahoga River in Northeast Ohio on the western edge of the county. It's home to roughly 30,000 residents, who all enjoy a high quality of life, great schools, and plenty of opportunities for recreation and entertainment.
The city has been a staple of Portage County since 1805 when it was first founded by William Wetmore and John Kidd, who were both pioneers from New York State. The two men set up camp on what would become known as Kent's Creek and later established their homesteads along the banks of this stream. They were also instrumental in helping establish other nearby communities within Portage County such as Ravenna Township which was named after English poet John Milton's epic poem Paradise Lost or Newcomerstown which was named after another New York native named John Newcomer who had settled there earlier that same year with his family members from Pennsylvania after he had been granted land rights by one General Winfield Scott who had served under George Washington during his time in office before becoming Governor over Virginia after leaving military service but later
