Johnson County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 150,934 and a population density of 79 people per km². After 10 years in 2020 county had an estimated population of 179,575 inhabitants. Its county seat is Cleburne. The county was created 170 years ago in 1853.
Johnson County is located in north central Texas, south of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. It was established in 1854 and named after Middleton Johnson, a Texas Ranger, soldier, and politician.
The city of Cleburne became Johnson County’s seat of government in 1867. Cleburne was founded that same year near a railroad line and named after Confederate General Patrick Cleburne.
