Homosassa Springs is a city located on the Gulf Coast of Florida, about 65 miles north of Tampa. The area is known for its natural springs and wildlife. The main attraction in Homosassa Springs is the Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park.

The Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park is home to native Florida wildlife, most notably its manatees. The park's headspring feeds the Homosassa River with thousands of gallons of freshwater daily. This provides a winter home for West Indian manatees searching for warmer waters.

Visitors can get up close to the manatees through the park's underwater observatory. The observatory's windows open up into the headspring, giving visitors prime viewing of the manatees as they swim by. Manatees flock here from November through March. This is one of the best places in Florida to see manatees in their natural habitat.
