Hickory: The second-largest city in Catawba County, North Carolina. It is located in the Piedmont region of the state. Hickory is known for its many parks and green spaces, its many historical sites, and its many attractions, such as the Hickory Museum of Art and the Hickory Canopy Walk.

Hickory is a city located in the county of Catawba in the U.S. state of North Carolina. Its population at the 2010 census was 40,010 and a population density of 515 people per km². After 10 years in 2020 city had an estimated population of 41,473 inhabitants.
The city was created 154 years ago in 1869.
Hickory is a city located primarily in Catawba County, with formal boundaries extending into Burke and Caldwell counties. The city lies in the U.S. state of North Carolina. At the time of the 2020 census, Hickory's population was 43,490.
The city of Hickory was founded in 1851 as a depot on the Charlotte and South Carolina Railroad between Charlotte and Columbia, SC. The town was named for Dr. Richard Huckleberry, a prominent railroad official who had been instrumental in securing a charter for the line through western North Carolina.
Hickory is home to Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC), with campuses located in Newton Grove and Lenoir. A new campus is planned for downtown Hickory at an area near the historic train depot.
The first commercial nuclear power plant west of the Mississippi River was completed in 1973 at Catawba Nuclear Station in nearby Conover.
