Evanston is known for its many parks and green spaces, its many historical sites, and its many attractions, such as the Northwestern University campus and the Evanston Public Library.

Evanston is a city located in the county of Cook in the U.S. state of Illinois. Its population at the 2010 census was 74,585 and a population density of 3,691 people per km². After 10 years in 2020 city had an estimated population of 72,683 inhabitants.
The city was created 188 years ago in 1835.
Evanston is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States, 12 miles north of Chicago, bordered by Skokie to the west, Wilmette to the north, and Lake Michigan to the east. It had a population of 74,486 at the 2010 census.
Evanston is considered a bedroom community within Chicago's metropolitan area.
The area was settled in 1836 as "Gross Point" before being renamed Evanston in 1850 when it was platted. In 1853, Evanston hosted a national women's rights convention at Wesleyan University. In 1860, Evanston hosted the Illinois constitutional convention and became an official town under Illinois law.
In 1893, Evanston hosted the first statewide meeting of the Illinois Farmers' Alliance with 5000 attendees. In 1908, Evanston replaced Wilmette as headquarters for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in America.
The city has since been home to many high-tech companies and incubators such as Cognex Corporation and Analog Devices' Application Group (ADI AG), and Media Lab Europe (the European branch of the MIT Media Lab). Today, many of these companies' headquarters remain in Evanston or Skokie.
Evanston is very close to Lake Michigan and is just minutes away from downtown Chicago. There are many restaurants and shops within walking distance from your new home!
