The city was created 62 years ago in 1962.
Deltona is a city in Volusia County, Florida founded in 1962 by the Mackle Brothers land development company. The original plan includedwaterways, parks and a golf course situated between Daytona and Orlando along Interstate 4.
Deltona was designed to be a planned residential community and grew rapidly starting in the 1970s as people relocated from northern states. By 1995, it had the fastest growth rate in the U.S. and officially became incorporated as a city in 1995.
