Dallas County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 2,368,139 and a population density of 1,006 people per km². After 10 years in 2020 county had an estimated population of 2,635,888 inhabitants. Its county seat is Dallas. The county was created 178 years ago in 1846.
Dallas County is located in north Texas and contains the city of Dallas, which is also the county seat. The county was established in 1846 and was possibly named for George Mifflin Dallas, the 11th Vice President of the United States.
Dallas County played an important role in Texas history and the American West. It was a popular stopping point along the Shawnee Trail for cattle drives heading north after the Civil War.
