History
The area was originally home to the Miwok and Yokuts native tribes. Spanish settlers established Rancho Monte del Diablo in the early 19th century.
By 1869, the Transcontinental Railroad reached the site of Concord. The town developed as an agricultural community supplying San Francisco markets.
Naval Weapons Station Concord opened in 1942 to support World War II efforts. The city incorporated in 1905 and continued growing after WWII as a middle-class suburb.
