Comal County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 108,472 and a population density of 73 people per km². After 10 years in 2020 county had an estimated population of 164,812 inhabitants. Its county seat is New Braunfels. The county was created 178 years ago in 1845.
Comal County is located in south-central Texas, just north of San Antonio. It was established in 1846 and named for the Comal River which flows through the county.
The county was settled by German immigrants in the 1840s. The city of New Braunfels became the county seat in 1848. It was named after the German town of Braunfels by German Prince Carl of Solms-Braunfels.
