Collin County is located in the U.S. state of Texas, part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. The county was named after Collin McKinney, one of the five men who drafted the Texas Declaration of Independence.
Collin County was established in 1846 and separated from the Fannin County. It originally included land that is now part of Hunt County and Grayson County. The county seat is McKinney.
