Brady is a city in McCulloch County, Texas, United States. Brady refers to itself as the "Heart of Texas", as it is the city closest to the geographical center of the state, which is about 15 miles northeast of Brady. Its population was 5,528 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of McCulloch County.
The town was named after Major General Bennett C. Brady, a soldier in the Mexican–American War and a friend of Stephen F. Austin's father. In 1852, a post office opened here under the name "Brady's Landing". The town was incorporated by an act of legislature on November 2, 1887; its first mayor had been elected in October 1886.
Brady High School's football team is hosting an alumni game on Friday night. Come cheer them on as they take on their old rivals from West Texas State University!
The annual garden tour kicks off on Saturday at 3pm at the Garden Club of Brady's headquarters (2100 Main Street). Tickets are $35 per person and include food and drinks. Let us know if you need directions!
Sunday is pancake day at First Baptist Church (2300 Main Street). Starting at 10am, they'll be serving up pancakes with all your favorite toppings for only $3 each. Make sure you get there early—they sell out fast!
