Blair is a city located in the county of Washington in the U.S. state of Nebraska. Its population at the 2010 census was 7,990 and a population density of 558 people per km². After 10 years in 2020 city had an estimated population of 7,948 inhabitants.
Blair, Nebraska is a city in and the county seat of Washington County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 7,990 at the 2010 census. It is part of the North Platte Micropolitan Statistical Area.
The community was named for James Blair (1809–1876), a pioneer settler who arrived in 1846. The town was incorporated in 1874. Blair was founded in 1871 by Joseph F. Glidden, who named it after his hometown of Blair in Mitchell County, Iowa. The town's first post office was established on February 3, 1872. The community was incorporated as a village in 1885 and as a city in 1960.
Blair has been the county seat since 1887.
Blair is located at 42°38′48″N 100°0′33″W / 42.64778°N 100.01083°W / 42.64778; -100.01083 (42.647717, -100.010843). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 14.31 square kilometers (5.56 square miles), all land.
Blair is located on U.S Highway 26 about halfway between Kearney and North Platte, Nebraska on the east side of the railroad tracks that run through town and across the Missouri River at Fort Robinson State Park just north of town along with U S Highway 183 which goes west from Blair through Buffalo Gap National Grassland to Ogallala where it joins U S Highway 20 going north-south from Denver Colorado to Sioux City Iowa on Interstate 80/
