The city was created 189 years ago in 1834.

As Illinois' second largest city, Aurora offers a diverse array of attractions. From historic architecture and performing arts to family attractions, Aurora provides small town charm just beyond Chicago's suburbs.

Historic Downtown Aurora

Aurora's lively downtown showcases impressive 19th and 20th century architecture. The Paramount Theatre hosts live performances in a stunning Art Deco movie palace. The neoclassical Grand Army of the Republic Hall stands as a Civil War memorial and event space.
