Rochester is a city in Strafford County, New Hampshire, United States. As of the 2020 census, the city population was 32,492. In addition to the downtown area, the city contains the villages of East Rochester, Gonic, and North Rochester. Rochester is home to Skyhaven Airport and part of Baxter Lake.
Rochester is located in southwestern New Hampshire along the eastern shore of Lake Sunapee (a lake) and near the Connecticut River. It is located at . The city has developed a thriving arts community with many artists living and working in Rochester's historic buildings. Rochester also hosts an annual jazz festival every summer which draws many national performers to town while local bands play during intermissions at local restaurants throughout the festival weekend. Additionally, many notable jazz musicians reside in Rochester or nearby communities such as Dover or Portsmouth or Concord.
