It is the seventh largest city in the U.S. state of Mississippi, with a population of 37,252 (2020). Meridian is the county seat of Lauderdale County and the principal city of the Meridian, Mississippi Micropolitan Statistical Area.
According to Forbes Magazine, Meridian is among the Top 10 Best Places to Retire in 2019. With an average annual temperature of 64 degrees Fahrenheit, it boasts mild winters and warm summers. The city has been recognized as one of America's Top 100 Places to Live by Money Magazine and one of America's Top 50 Best Cities by Business Insider.
