After 10 years in 2020 county had an estimated population of 373,513 inhabitants. Its county seat is Ocala. The county was created 180 years ago in 1844.

Marion County, Florida is located in the central portion of the U.S. state of Florida. As of the 2020 census, the population was 375,908. Its county seat is Ocala. Marion County comprises the Ocala, FL Metropolitan Statistical Area. it includes part of Ocala National Forest, which also extends into three other counties. 

Marion County has a diverse economy that relies on agriculture and tourism as well as high-tech industries like aerospace engineering and information technology (IT). 

The county's largest employer is Lockheed Martin Space Systems with over 1,500 employees in three facilities located in Ocala and Melbourne. Other major employers include Taylor Hospitality Group (lodging), American Water (water treatment), Marion Technical College (education), Citrus Memorial Health System (health care), and The Villages retirement community (retirement).
