Grayson County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 120,877 and a population density of 48 people per km². After 10 years in 2020 county had an estimated population of 138,318 inhabitants. Its county seat is Sherman. The county was created 178 years ago in 1846.
Grayson County is located in northeastern Texas, about 60 miles north of Dallas. It was established in 1846 from Fannin County and named after Peter W. Grayson, an attorney general of the Republic of Texas.
The city of Sherman became the county seat in 1847. It was named after General Sidney Sherman, a Texas Revolutionary War hero and an original settler of the area.
