Franklin County is a county located in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2010 census, the population was 60,619 and a population density of 47 people per km². After 10 years in 2020 county had an estimated population of 71,859 inhabitants. Its county seat is Louisburg. The county was created 245 years ago in 1778.
Franklin County is located in the northern central Piedmont region of North Carolina. The county was formed in 1779 from the southern half of Bute County. As of 2021, the population was estimated to be around 66,000 residents. The county seat and largest city is Louisburg.
