Cookeville is a city in Tennessee, situated right in the center of the state. It's the county seat of Putnam County and home to a population of around 34,000 people.
Cookeville was founded in 1822 by John Rhea and named after his friend Colonel Henry Cooke (hence the "City of Cookeville" name). The city was initially known as "The Forks" because it was where two different creeks met.
The city has experienced several floods over the years, including one in 2010 that killed three people and destroyed hundreds of homes. The flooding occurred because there were not enough flood walls built along Little River to prevent flooding during heavy rains.
