Burlington County is a county located in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2010 census, the population was 448,734 and a population density of 211 people per km². After 10 years in 2020 county had an estimated population of 446,596 inhabitants. Its county seat is Mount Holly Township. The county was created 330 years ago in 1693.
Burlington County is located in southern New Jersey along the Delaware River. The county was formed in 1694 and was named after the English city of Bridlington. Early settlers were Quakers who established farms and villages along the river.
The county played an important role in the American Revolution with several key battles taking place there like the Battle of Iron Works Hill in 1776. The historic town of Burlington served as the capital of West Jersey until 1796.
